  • Five College Friends Stay Close Years Later

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

In All the Right Mistakes by Laura Jamison, five college friends approach their fortieth birthday, having traveled very different paths. Elizabeth and Sara are lawyers, Martha is a doctor, and Carmen is a wealthy stay-at-home mom. The most successful, Heather, is a famous tech executive.

Then, Heather writes an advice novel, basically talking about all the “mistakes” that her college friends made, like opting out, giving half effort, and more. It becomes extremely popular, though, which hurts her friends more than anything. In fact, it may just tear them apart. None of them feels they can forgive Heather. When her life starts to fall apart, she doesn’t have her friends to fall back on.

This makes the group realize that friendship is worth more than anything. They need each other to get through the ups and downs of life. It just makes life so much better to have someone you can count on!

I could NOT put The Mother by Valerie Keogh down. It was one exciting thing after another, and the ending will have you gasping and wondering how you couldn’t figure it out. I think I found another favorite author and will download more of her books.

You can’t go wrong with this one!

  • Must Read Follow Up From Kate Hewitt

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

Though it has been awhile, I read the first book in the Lost Lake Series. If you are interested in my review, you can check it out right here.

The Midnight Hour starts right where the previous book left off. Someone has attacked Alex’s family’s home, and they have to flee. Where to go? Nobody really knows? Nobody knows if any place is safe from the radiation. Nobody knows where they can find a peaceful home like they had made at the cabin. They just know that they have to move!

Alex worries about her children. Each seems so affected in ways, yet not in others. Sam, her oldest son, won’t even look at her. Her oldest daughter is taking care of a child who only wants her. Her youngest daughter is determined to find whatever she can to feed everyone.

Alex is determined to keep her children safe, as they navigate the new world that they are a part of!

Like any other book by Hewitt, you won’t be able to put it down! I can’t wait for the final book in the series to come out (and I have to wait an entire year)!

  • What Secrets Are They Hiding?

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

In Things We Never Say by Caitlin Weaver, three mothers, Anna, Maggie, and Rhea, have known each other for years, yet they have never been close.

Anna is the headmaster’s wife. She has always been quiet, doing her best to keep her family secrets safe.

Maggie is a relationship therapist who is struggling in her own marriage. Though she works hard with other couples, she can’t seem to get anywhere in her own marriage.

Rhea is the perfect well put together one. She hasn’t told anyone about her past, not even her husband.

The three women, all completely different, find themselves working together on a PTA project. Over wine and hard work, they find themselves with friends (maybe even for the first time in years).

Then, they find out about a scandal that is going to rock their community and school. Anna is stuck in the middle. There is no way that her husband is not involved. The three women have to figure out what they are going to do. Do they expose the school and Anna’s husband? Will any of them survive the fallout? Will their friendship survive?

I have been trying a bunch of new authors lately, and I am really glad that I have been! This is one book that I was glad that I picked up. I will have to follow the author so that I can get her other books as they go on sale!

  • This One Broke My Heart

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

In A Mother’s Last Wish by Jo Bartlett, a mother of two small children finds out some unexpectedly bad news. She turns to the two people who love her the most: her husband and her twin sister. However, as she faces the truth of her illness, she struggles to see her children living a life without her in it.

Though she has a good marriage, the majority of the children’s care belongs to Louise. So, who will care for them the way she does? Instead of enjoying the time she has left, she worries about her children.

However, as Louise gets sicker and sicker, her husband and twin sister are determined to enjoy the time that they have left with her. They try to make as much as they can, while Louise is still feeling alright.

This book completely broke my heart. I couldn’t keep the tears from falling. It probably wasn’t a good idea to read so close to losing a friend to cancer, but it really makes you think about making the most of the time that you have left!

  • Will Death Change Friendship?

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

In The Proper Care and Maintenance of Friendship by Lisa Verge Higgins, a group of friends’ lives completely change when they lose one of their own. Even more, she sent everyone a letter to ensure that they learn something from her own experiences.

For Kate, she is busy being a wife and mother. Her entire life revolves around her family and making sure that everyone else’s lives run smoothly. She tries skydiving because her friend asked her to. And it changes her perspective on her life.

For Jo, her career is everything. She works hard to ensure that she is going to have a better future than her childhood. When she gets her friend’s daughter, she has to figure out if one orphan can help another!

For Sarah, she is forced to confront the man that she has loved for the last few years. It has kept her from finding love with anyone else, even the man who has been beside her in the steamy jungles of Africa.

The three women are changed, both by the loss of their friend and her final wish for all of them.

I have been reading a lot of tough books lately, and I was looking for a lighter read. Though this book dealt with death, it was a good, easy read about a group of friends who will be there for each other, no matter what. It also talks about growth as the women learn from their deceased friend. It is a good read!

  • A Stroke Can Change Everything

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

The Frosts are a typical American family in Always the Last To Know by Kristan Higgins. Barb and John have been married for almost fifty years and are struggling with their relationship.

Juliet is their firstborn daughter. She is happily married with two darling girls herself. She is a famous architect. Their second daughter, Sadie, is more free-spirited. She is a preschool teacher by day and works on her paintings in the evenings.

Things were going fine until John had a stroke. Sadie puts her career on hold to move back home to help with her dad. Then, she finds herself face-to-face with the man who broke her heart. Juliet is struggling with panic attacks, even though her life seems perfect to many.

Barb also faces a future in which she may have to take care of John for the rest of his life. She also discovers a secret that changes everything.

While there are many changes for the Frost family, they all pull together to get through it. A good novel that you won’t want to put down, so you can see what happens!

  • Nora Roberts’ First Novel Is a Hit

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

When Adelia Cunnane’s parents died, their family farm went to her aunt. After tending the farm together for years, her aunt passes, leaving her nothing in Ireland. She had to sell the farm to catch up with the taxes, and she knows that there is no reason to stick around.

Lucky for her, she has an uncle Paddy who lives in America, who tells her just to come to America with him.

When she gets to the Maryland horse farm where Paddy lives and works, she can’t believe her eyes! Then, she finds herself working at the farm too. She works as a groom and an exercise rider on the back of the fast racing horses.

That being said, she has no idea what to think about her boss. Their relationship is tricky, and she doesn’t know what to expect from him.

I never realized that this was Roberts’ first book. When I heard that, I just had to read it, and I am glad that I did. Now, I will have to read the rest of the books in the series to find out what happens to Dee and her handsome boss.
