  • What Would You Do If You Were Put in an Unthinkable Situation?

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

When Abbie Bernard learns that her daughter isn’t really hers, she is heartbroken. She has raised the girl for years, and loves her more than she ever imagined. However, what about her real daughter, the one she actually grew inside of her?

She finds her real daughter, who is turning into a wonderful girl thanks to her parents. And she finds herself in a heartbreaking dilemma. Should she tell Logan O’Connell, who is struggling after his wife’s death? Or should she keep it to herself?

How can she get into the life of her daughter, without losing the daughter that she has been raising? When Logan finds out, he is just as desperate to keep both of his daughters in his life. Will the two of them find a solution that works for everyone?

I really enjoyed this book by Patricia Kay. I couldn’t wait to figure out how the two would figure out how to keep both of the girls in their lives. If you are looking for a good read about an impossible situation, look no further than The Wrong Child by Patricia Kay.

  • Jody and Alicia Didn’t Have An Easy Life

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

Jody McBride has caused Isabel and her family plenty of grief over the years. However, her life hasn’t always been easy. She grew up in East London, with a mother who worked multiple jobs and a father who was a firefighter. They lived in a bad part of town, though she did her best in school. She wanted a better life than she had.

When her father lost his job, her life underwent a significant change. He started drinking. Then one night, it got even worse. Her house caught on fire, and her mother gave birth to her sister, Alicia. Jody was left to raise her sister, Alicia, at only nine years old. Her father barely worked, but started bringing the family to work.

Jody struggled with her life. She had to raise her sister, work with her dad, take care of the whole family, and deal with her own addictions. Plus, she had to come to terms with Alicia’s demons.

A change from the other novels in this series, Cold Bath Lane by Lorna Dounaeva gave me a glimpse into the pain that Jody and Alicia dealt with, making it a little easier to understand why they make the choices that they do!

  • Will Alicia Get Her Revenge?

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

You set fire to me and left me for dead. You even pronounced me dead, never noticing that I was still alive. Everyone left me, yet somehow I survived.

When Alicia escaped the fire, she began a whole new life. She meets a man named Christopher, who is only happy to take care of her. She tried (though not very hard) to become an actress, while biding her time until she could take revenge on the people who left her for dead.

Alicia decides that she will have her revenge. Or will she? Is she willing to give up her love, just to get even? Christopher won’t stay with her if he really knows who she is, so is she willing to risk it all?

The Girl Who Caught Fire by Lorna Dounaeva: another compelling novel in the series. I can’t wait to see how it ends!

Maddy is a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother. She keeps everything going smoothly for her husband, Brady and her daughter, Eve. She is always there when they need her until she commits suicide.

Both Brady and Eve are heartbroken. They had no idea that Maddy was so unhappy. They thought that they loved each other and had everything that they needed. That being said, Maddy is not ready to leave her family. In fact, as she watches above, she starts to look for her replacement. She finds Rory, a beautiful woman who is caring.

I LOVED I Liked My Life by Abby Fabiaschi. It is a must-read debut novel from an author that I can’t wait to read what she puts out next!

  • Must Read Follow Up From Kate Hewitt

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

Though it has been awhile, I read the first book in the Lost Lake Series. If you are interested in my review, you can check it out right here.

The Midnight Hour starts right where the previous book left off. Someone has attacked Alex’s family’s home, and they have to flee. Where to go? Nobody really knows? Nobody knows if any place is safe from the radiation. Nobody knows where they can find a peaceful home like they had made at the cabin. They just know that they have to move!

Alex worries about her children. Each seems so affected in ways, yet not in others. Sam, her oldest son, won’t even look at her. Her oldest daughter is taking care of a child who only wants her. Her youngest daughter is determined to find whatever she can to feed everyone.

Alex is determined to keep her children safe, as they navigate the new world that they are a part of!

Like any other book by Hewitt, you won’t be able to put it down! I can’t wait for the final book in the series to come out (and I have to wait an entire year)!

  • What A Great Read by Kate Hewitt!

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

Life has a way of changing, when you least expect it. When Daniel lies to his family and pretends to go to work after being fired, life only worsens when he loses the family house.

So, what else can you do? Alex, Daniel, and their two daughters head to Alex’s parents’ hideaway, a cabin in the woods in Canada. They are going to use this time to reconnect and come up with a plan for their future. They decide to spend six weeks during the holiday season hiding out in a rustic cabin. There is little there, but Alex remembers summers happily bringing water in, cutting firewood, and acting like pioneers.

Except, the entire world changes as the United States gets attached. Cities that once were so powerful are demolished to the ground. Millions lose their lives, and people have to learn to live off of the grid.

Alex worries about her son in college and her mother in a rehab facility, yet she has to take care of the daughters living with her. The entire family has to become resilient and find out how they can go on from here.

I couldn’t put this book down, much like all of the Hewitt books that I have read. You will not regret reading this one, especially if you like all of her other books. She makes you think and really care about the characters so that you are hoping for the best for all of them!

  • This One Broke My Heart

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

In A Mother’s Last Wish by Jo Bartlett, a mother of two small children finds out some unexpectedly bad news. She turns to the two people who love her the most: her husband and her twin sister. However, as she faces the truth of her illness, she struggles to see her children living a life without her in it.

Though she has a good marriage, the majority of the children’s care belongs to Louise. So, who will care for them the way she does? Instead of enjoying the time she has left, she worries about her children.

However, as Louise gets sicker and sicker, her husband and twin sister are determined to enjoy the time that they have left with her. They try to make as much as they can, while Louise is still feeling alright.

This book completely broke my heart. I couldn’t keep the tears from falling. It probably wasn’t a good idea to read so close to losing a friend to cancer, but it really makes you think about making the most of the time that you have left!

  • A Heartbreaking Read: When You Have A Child With Special Needs, What Happens to Your Other Child?

Book Cover off of Amazon Website

In The Favourite Child by Emma Robinson, you meet Erika. She has had a good life. She married a good man, they both worked hard, and then they started a family. They were delighted when they discovered that they were having twins. A boy and a girl, making their family complete.

But then, as the twins grew, she noticed that Ben was having a lot of problems. He wasn’t developing as well as his sister Mollie. He was struggling with basic things that she picked up easily.

So, she had to put Ben’s needs in front of Mollie, especially when he was diagnosed with autism. She even moved closer to Ben’s new school to help him adjust, even though that meant leaving Mollie at home with her dad.

Now, Mollie is missing, and the couple have to work together to help her. For the first time in years, they have to find a way to communicate better to figure out what went wrong with their daughter. She had always been so good, a perfect daughter and student.

And they have to admit that Erika spends more time making sure that Ben is doing as well as he can. Her husband really struggles with Ben, so it has been easier to do things the way that they have been doing them. Erika with Ben. Her husband with Mollie.

Mollie may even feel like Ben is her favourite. Is that why she ran away? Can they find Mollie and get their family back on track? Is the marriage and family worth saving? Big choices have to be made, and they can change everything!

I couldn’t put this book down! I just had to see if they found Mollie, what made her run, and if the family was able to get back together. Another spectacular read by Emma Robinson that you won’t be able to put down!
